A letter from the Austrian Foreign Ministry from 20th December 2002
From: Minister Dr. Bemita Ferrero-Waldner

Dear Mr. Eder!
I would sincerely like to thank you for sending me the new Silent Night CD in 15 languages. I was also especially touched to read the kind dedication. I am sure that the preparation and production of this recording involved a great deal of personal commitment and effort on your part and the impressive result distinctly indicates your enthusiasm, not only for this unique melody but above all, for the message of peace the song conveys. I am convinced that this music production will be heard with great joy in many countries throughout the world and that it will be able to make an important contribution to promote Austria’s role as a mediator between different cultures and civilisations.
With the very best of wishes for this coming Christmas

Yours sincerely
Benita Ferrero-Waldner

Reverend Father Leopold,
I am pleased to confirm the receipt of your letter from 8th December last year that you sent to His Eminence the Reverend Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger in which a music CD of the Christmas Carol “Silent Night” in different languages was enclosed for the Holy Father. At the same time I would kindly inform you that His Holiness sends his sincere thanks and accepts the giftas an expression of solidarity/affinity with his pastoral duties. In the name of the Virgin Mary, (queen of the holy rosary), Pope Johannes Paul II sincerely gives you and all those entrusted with your priestly worries his apostolic blessing/benediction.
With the very best of wishes for the New Year.
